Wynters Wramblin's

Wynters Wramblin's is the name of the annual Christmas (or New Year's letter, if I'm late) that I publish and send to family and friends. I've missed a year here and there, so somehow the name just seems fitting for my blog. I hope that friends and family will visit here often and ENJOY!

Tribute to Sophi
Sep 15, 1994 ~ Apr 12, 2007

Once upon a time there was a dog lover who needed another dog like a she needed a hole in her head! Still, when she learned of a pleasant little dog that loved children and desperately needed a home, she checked into the situation and when the two finally met, there was instant bonding!

As if it were yesterday, I still see and feel our first meeting at the Soldotna (Alaska) Animal Control Center. She was about five pounds of shag-nasty matted apricot fur, but she had the brightest, most expectant eyes, an air of intelligence, and a little wiggle of her body that confidently declared, “I’m a HAPPY dog and you’re gonna take me home, aren’t you!”

Sophi was 4½ months old when she came to live with me in February 1995. After trying out a few names, she best responded to Sophia, so Sophi she became! From the beginning Sophi made herself Top Dog, much to Kasey’s chagrin, although he quickly learned he was losing no love; there was plenty to go around!

Sophi grew up with, and adored, Dustin & Jessica, and they adored her!

She was happiest tucked under my left arm, going everywhere with me. Full of contented sighs, and with a strong sense of communication between us, I probably spoiled her, but little dogs are for spoiling!

Sophi had an ATTITUDE about cats! When we visited Sasha, Sophi trotted past invisible dogs eagerly greeting her; she was on a mission: seeking cats! She was proudest when they’d RUN and HIDE in terror! Finally, one day Zip, realizing she was half his size, fluffed up his thick white coat, arched his back, pfffsst! and stood his ground! Sophi froze! Puzzled, she turned to us and inquired, “What now? He‘s not playing the game!“ After each cat encounter, she socialized with the dogs, but she always had her priorities!

Such a TREASURE, Sophia Snowflake! She is deeply MISSED!
